To all the PDX Anons and brave Exes who've stuck with the cause, I humbly salute you...

Also, please consider tossing a few dollars toward these folks: they were one of the first to stand up to the CoS and continue publishing "private docs"...

Interesting that the NYTimes photographer made section 26 the subject of his photo. Based on the Depth of Field, I have a feeling this was completely intentional and not cropped later...

That photo definitely had a purpose, thus the DoF. One of my favorites was this one. The "new Flag building" looks like the Superpower Building. *More* than enough money has been raised, into the hundreds of millions, without Superpower being completed. Also, "Superpower Building" sounds wacky to those wog bastards. Also, anyone who has run through the Superpower trials has blown. There's some articles on Ask The Scientologist and a few threads at ESMB that detail this debacle.

Hundreds of millions for just this building - seriously?

Also, please help Digg this article up - I think it's getting buried by spais...

Comment left on NYT website...

An ex- scilon chimes in (one of many by the way).
This is also only part of her comment. I mention this part because it mentions Anonymous

"When people leave scientology, and I know because I was one of them, it takes years of recovery to overcome the effects of having unwillingly participated in an indoctrination of every thought and action in ones life. Scientologists are told that the media is bad, the internet is bad, they are not allowed to even have the right to think and read and disagree with what is observed and have no recource to contact a lawyer, or file a lawsuit, or protest abuses without being declared the dreaded Suppressive Person label and threat of disconnetipon from loved ones which the church likes to hang over the head of every member to keep them in line. That the couple was able to finally leave in one piece is amazing from my experience and knowledge. That their marriage was not able to survive as they navigated their way back to sanity because of conflicting allegiences to the fundamental beliefs of scientology is a travesty, too because it takes time, alot of reading of the internet and oftentimes some form of therapy to become unindoctrinated from all that one had been brainwashed to believe for all those years. Time was apparently something this couple did not realize that they needed and I do hope that they can stay together as friends for the sake of their children in the interim and agree to disagree while each recovers from this horrible long time experience that nearly ruined their lives.

There are many factions within the former member category. I do not consider myself a scientologist anymore and have no use for any part of scientrology. Most believe in Hubbard's technical writings when they first leave for disagreeing with his administrative practices and policies. Eventually the Truman Show walls crumble and the person sees the dangerousness of what the tech of scientology is too. In the last few years, many are leaving thanks to the support of the media, former members persitence on fillig the internet with documentation and reports, and with the aid of the beloved amorphous Anonymous movement. Anonymous and the critics of scientology have sounded the alarm on the net and at protests, helps protect those leaving by giving them an anonymous avenue to begin reading the internet and speaking up. It's a tough and frightening process because scientology's totalitarian tactics and 'fair game ' retaliation practices are ingrained in the minds of those desiring to be free of of the oppression. There are thousands on the internet talking it up and there are many more coming out ach dayt, speaking up, making their way back to real life and freedoms that they have been shut off from for many years. Staff members suffer the most but many of the public are tired of being asked for donations while under the gun. They are tired of the oppression in not being able to speak up. Jonie Segil CAN'T say otherwise that what she said. Do so otherwise is to risk being subjected to what this couple were subjected to! Members are told that the media is suppressive, so you will not get any real answers about personal thoughts because of that.

Tommy Davis just keeps putting his foot in his mouth about disconnection policy and the real numbers about the church membership. Thank you so much for documenting this and providing a fair report. "

Has anyone noticed the timeline, including links to historical NYT articles? COOL.

LINK: TIMELINE

"Over its short lifetime as an organized church, Scientology has drawn controversy even as it has expanded across the United States and the world. Here, browse some significant moments in the history of the church.".

Included "significant moments"...
2008 - Anonymous
2009 - SP Times article

Those who've been with Anon since the beginning should feel especially good :-)

There's been nothing like Anonymous. Anonymous IS the reason the CofS is shrinking. But you can't see that from the inside other than the fact orgs are getting smaller. Because they don't want Scientologists to see the facts. They fill Scientologists heads with lies about Anonymous so as to gain support against the Anon movement.

This has been a stunning week of epic media win. The Aussies really went nuts, especially. Too bad their major-party politicians are still dragging their feet, but that's about the last hangup before... ohhh, I can't even say it, it's just too juicy.

I wish I could be with you guys for all this, don't really have a way to get to the protests while in college.

I was actually wondering where you'd gone. No one was more like a damn encyclopedia on Scientology then you. Too bad Hubbard isn't still around, otherwise you could tell him a few new things about his religion.
Anyway, I'm sure we'll see you again sometime, Squirrelly. College doesn't last all year.

...Or does it?

Summer term... I might be able to get my car down here, though. I'll need to re-bone up on Scientology, the year of almost doing nothing has wiped quite a bit of it.
